This official celebration will be attended by H.R.H. Grand Duke Guillaume, the President of the Chamber of Deputies Claude Wiseler, and Prime Minister Luc Frieden. It will be a highlight, providing an opportunity to look back on a century of history, but above all to project the Bank into the future.

A bank born out of a vital need

Banque Raiffeisen was founded 100 years ago in response to a very specific need: to enable the rural population, which was largely excluded from the banking system at the time, to access financial services and develop their communities in a sustainable manner. From its inception, the Bank was designed to be a trusted network based on solidarity and collective responsibility, with strong local roots and a long-term vision.

Inspired by the cooperative movement initiated by Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen, the Bank places people at the heart of its model. Three founding principles have guided its actions for the past century: solidarity, responsibility, and proximity.

These values, which remain alive and well today, enable Banque Raiffeisen to take decisions locally, build lasting relationships, and earn the trust of its customers.

As Guy Hoffmann, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Raiffeisen, points out:
“We have not only financed projects. We have supported people's lives, families, and businesses, sometimes over several generations. Our greatest asset has never been money, but the trust of our customers.”

A bank which evolves with society

Over the course of a century, Luxembourg society has undergone profound economic, social, and technological changes. Banque Raiffeisen has accompanied those transformations without ever losing sight of its primary mission: to be a relevant, accessible, and responsible bank.

During this time, the Bank has evolved from a rurally-based savings and loan undertaking to a modern universal bank. By way of successive “Caisse Rurale” mergers, a strategic refocusing on core banking activities, continuous adaptation of the business model, and unification into a single entity in 2019, its solidity and resilience have been considerably strengthened.

At the same time, the organisation has been adapted to respond to the needs of private and professional customers: evolution of the branch network, strengthening of expertise, simplification of the legal structure, complete modernisation of IT infrastructure, and development of digital solutions in line with customer expectations.

Those transformations have enabled Banque Raiffeisen to grow alongside its customers, while remaining faithful to its mission: proximity and service orientation.

Long-lasting relationships and partnerships

To support its development, Banque Raiffeisen has built an ecosystem of partnerships based on complementarity and expertise, notably with Foyer, Vontobel, POST Luxembourg and Wüstenrot, as well as with Fondation Hëllef fir d’Natur, and, more recently, Rockhal. These collaborations strengthen the Bank's reputation and visibility.

But beyond partnerships, human relationships remain at the heart of the model. As Laurent Zahles, Chairman of the Management Board of Banque Raiffeisen, points out, "Proximity is not an abstract concept. It is the ability to listen, understand, and to know our customers by name, not by sector.”

This relationship of trust is based above all on the women and men of Banque Raiffeisen: staff members, partners, and cooperative members from local communities who, generation after generation, have contributed to writing this history.

An independent and responsible bank

Banque Raiffeisen is an independent bank which is not part of any international banking group and has never requested public support. This independence ensures that all decisions are made locally, at the Bank's headquarters in Leudelange, closely attuned to the realities on the ground.

While the Bank responds to economic imperatives, it favours a cautious and resilient approach. Profits generated are not distributed as dividends, but are reinvested in full to strengthen equity capital, recruit new talent, improve the customer experience, develop new projects, and support the sustainable development of the national economy.

100 years: a new beginning

While 12 February 2026 officially marks the 100th anniversary of Banque Raiffeisen, the Bank sees it above all as a new beginning. Faithful to its values, it endeavours to differentiate itself further, by enhancing the customer experience, making it more intuitive, smoother, and more personalised.

Over €10 million will be invested in the coming years to modernise and digitise the credit process, the Bank's core activity, with the aim of significantly improving the customer journey and time-to-offer, while remaining at the highest level of market standards.

It is in this spirit that Banque Raiffeisen is today unveiling its new slogan: All about you.

“This is not a slogan, but a commitment to our customers and our staff. It expresses what we have always been and what we choose to be in the future,” says Laurent Zahles.

After 100 years, the promise remains the same - the way we deliver on it is evolving. Banque Raiffeisen's ambition stands clear: to remain close and accessible, to earn the trust of its customers every day, and to continue building the future with them.

As Guy Hoffmann concludes: “This centenary is not an end, but a milestone. Today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.”
