Interview - Jean-Marie Wildgen (English)

My name is Jean-Marie Wildgen. I started working at Banque Raiffeisen in 1980, back when there were still our credit unions, 98 to be exact, plus our bank.

What makes Banque Raiffeisen unique?

Firstly, the fact that it’s a Luxembourgish bank. Raiffeisen is a bank that is out in the field, a real people’s bank. It’s a cooperative bank with many members that fully support it.

Above all, Raiffeisen is a bank where decisions are made here in Luxembourg, in Leudelange. Thie makes decision-making a lot easier and effective. They can react faster.

If Raiffeisen were a person, how would you describe them?

They remind me of a caring family father that takes the right decisions when they become necessary. Decisions here have never been taken thoughtlessly but only after concertation with the people in the field.

So this does remind me of how a family functions, when mother and father discuss something, the children must also be included.

The fact that decision-making procedures are shorter at Raiffeisen is a clear advantage of this bank.

Can you describe Raiffeisen in a few words?

Passion.
Professional.
Caring family father.

Interview - Michèle Scholtes (English)

My name is Michèle, I’m 29 years old and I work as a therapist at a mental development centre.

How did Raiffeisen become your bank?

That actually happened quite recently. In March 2025, I asked for a loan at the branch in Marnach.

As my whole family are already customers, my father suggested to also go speak to Raiffeisen. That’s how everything came together and I’ve been a customer ever since.

Do you have an anecdote about Raiffeisen?

I was at this appointment together with my father, and he asked if he could get another Raiffeisen umbrella.

I was then given a Raiffeisen baseball cap because while completing the forms for a loan, I mentioned that I was going on holidays to the Philippines soon. They told me to take a picture and post it with #Raiffeisen which I thought was quite funny.

The other thing was: my loan process took more time because I had to wait to be able to move into my apartment.

And my advisor went on vacation shortly after my first appointment and then again, after our final appointment when I was finally given the keys so I was like “well enjoy your holidays, again”.

It was funny that we saw each other twice just before he left for his vacation.

Can you describe Raiffeisen in a few words?

Honest.
The cool mum.
Complicity.

Interview - Gilles Gérard (English)

I’m Gilles Gérard, CEO of the Luxlait Group.

What is your relationship with Raiffeisen?

If my memory serves me well, we’ve been working with Banque Raiffeisen for the last 50 years.

How did this collaboration come about? This collaboration has its roots in the fact that both companies are cooperatives and we share the same values such as proximity, solidarity and of course, we are close to the agricultural world that Raiffeisen and Luxlait support.

What would a joint campaign with Banque Raiffeisen look like?

It would be a campaign about cooperatives and their values such as solidarity, mutual aid and proximity. Without forgetting the support of the Luxembourgish farming industry which really needs all the help it can get and the support of local businesses.

And finally: Raiffeisen in a few words?

Sincere.
Sustainable.

Where others focus on short-term profits, we, as a cooperative bank, have deliberately chosen the path of long-term stability. This commitment allows us to proudly celebrate our 100th anniversary today.
