Press Release - Banque Raiffeisen introduces the concept of “decentralised working” by opening five satellite offices

10 July 2023

Attentive to the well-being of its staff members, Banque Raiffeisen is positioning itself as an attractive and innovative employer by introducing the concept of “decentralised working”, which enables its staff members to work from five satellite offices.

Additional flexibility

As the country's leading cooperative bank, Banque Raiffeisen is close and attentive to its stakeholders, in particular its customers and staff members. With the aim of improving the well-being of the latter, the Bank has already introduced several key measures, such as the “Thank God it's Monday” campaign, the Behaviour and Leadership Charter and, since 1 January, “Quality Time”. This July, Banque Raiffeisen is innovating once again by introducing “decentralised working” with the opening of five satellite offices. This concept, which combines teleworking and satellite offices, offers additional flexibility to eligible staff members, thereby enhancing their well-being at work.

Close to the country’s borders

The Bank's new satellite offices provide a total of 80 workstations and were set up specifically for this purpose. They are located in Luxembourg but are close to national borders and/or easy to reach. The satellite offices are located in Steinfort, Differdange, Kayl, Mondorf-les-Bains and Niederfeulen.

These offices enable staff members to reduce mobility problems (and the related carbon footprint), while restoring greater equity in the number of days which non-residents can work from home compared with residents. This measure is subject to certain rules designed to ensure the availability of staff members, social cohesion, and team spirit while maintaining the quality of services, products and facilities offered to our customers. Working from satellite offices is convenient when staff members need to limit the number of journeys between their home and work, or when teleworking is not possible.

An additional office will be added in Wasserbillig by the end of the year.

Up to 100 days of decentralised working for everyone

This new measure is offered to staff members whose tasks can be done just as well remotely, without the need for a daily physical presence in the usual workplace.

Each year, a maximum of 100 days of decentralised working is authorised, taking into account the days actually spent teleworking and the use of a satellite office.

Enhanced well-being, greater appeal

By introducing the concept of satellite offices, Banque Raiffeisen wishes to offer its staff members greater flexibility and enhanced well-being at work. However, this measure is also part of a larger strategy: making the Bank an attractive employer on the Luxembourg labour market, and the first bank in Luxembourg to introduce Quality Time at the beginning of the year. Since the introduction of Quality Time, staff members have had eight hours of free time every month in addition, of course, to their official days of leave and rest, and without any impact on their remuneration and extra-legal benefits. This initiative was a great success in the first half of the year given that it was used by80% of the staff, regardless of their department or age group, or whether they were executive or non-executive, head office or branch staff.
